Hello Mum

My mum will be visiting this website tonight because I had my hair done at a really cool salon. I have never been to such a great salon in my life.

So Hi Mum:)

Get your blog high in the search engines!

Realised that my post was too short today so I wanted to just discuss SEO (Search Engine Optimisation). My website is out of the sandbox (whoopee) been waiting for over 9 months for Google to start to show my website in the search engines. I have managed to get this website to a PR4 with very few links. Well I will now start to give some advice on how to get out of the sandbox with Google - and start to show your website in the search rankings. Website optimisation is dependent on a number of variables, the most important as follows:

1. Backlinks - websites which link to your site, Google considers this as a vote the more websites that link to yours the better the website is ranked within Google.

2. Keywords - keywords within the web pages - it is always important for you to make sure your website contains good keywords so for example if you wanted to come top on the search engines for "films" you need to make sure your posts / web pages contain words that include films.

3. Strength of websites linking to yours - each website is ranked by Google using a tool called PR (Pagerank) PR is very important as page rank passes from your website to others therefore if you have a website of PR8 and little outgoing links this will the pass to your site if it links to yours and the website will end up with a PR7. In order to find out what page rank your website is then download the Google toolbar - right click and then tick see page rank. If you do a search in Google for "Google Toolbar" the website will pop up.

So how did I get this website indexed?

I got this site indexed within 2 hours by using RSS feeds from my blog into my yahoo personal page. RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication" -- it's a format for getting and gathering content from sources such as weblogs, newspapers etc . Within my yahoo web page I set up an RSS feed from this website into my yahoo - this is quite simple. An RSS feed is like a prong - it alerts the user of when a website has been updated. This is the first thing you must do to get your website indexed. To add your web blog to your yahoo personal page please visit the following URL: http://my.yahoo.com/s/publishers.html
